Riana Golf 2009

My neice, Riana, is staying with us until Christmas. She is attempting to play golf. The golf coach is a friend of our and he, Zack, needed a 10th member. She agreed, even though she had never played before. On her first match she shot a 52, compared to most others at 47 and the best of the team at 45. Not too shabby for her 5th day of swinging clubs! GO GIRL!

Last Summer Fun in '09

This was our past weekend fun. Nene was off and wanting to do something fun with Abby so on Friday we took off. We decided to go visit Elephant Rock and Johnson Shut Ins. Neither one of us had ever been there. We packed a picnic lunch and our suits and left. We knew it was down 72, past Salem, so we took the GPS and an address I had looked up on line before we left. Well all the way to Salem, we tried to plug in that address, no luck, look up the area, no luck, find anything close to that name, no luck. Good thing I had a REAL map in my car. Poor thing though, it had been mis folded for who knows how many years, stuffed in a small pocket of my door. But it had the park and road numbers to go on, just in time for the road to fork. So anyone going, take Hwy 72 to Salem to Hwy 32 East, then 45 miles to Hwy 21, down the road and round the corner on the left. It was really neat to see all the HUGE rocks of granite. We walked a ways and had our lunch. We would have called that a day, but Abby said we had to find the water. So back in the car, and using the REAL map, back on 21 some more, right down a mile or 2 then on to route N, 13 miles to the shut ins on the left. Was not what I expected. I would have brought her life vest, not her arm floaties. And man are those rocks slippery! Make sure you have shoes to wear in the water. That will be a really neat place to stay for the day when she gets older. It is pretty much just swimming in a river, but the rocks make waterfalls and small pools to explore. That was Friday. Saturday we went to the "city" and Magic House. Wow has that place grown since I was a kid. Red building, Purple Building with multiple levels in each! So many stairs. But it was fun for Abby. And I will take her back many times as she gets older. We were so tired at the end of that day. Sunday was our day to rest. Well sort of, I did clean the house. Amazing how it gets so cluttered when we weren't even home! : )

Summer help

Well we have a visitor for a few weeks. This visitor is here to "get her head out of her butt". So for today, she has worked to keep her hands busy. Clean living room, Abby's room, Abby's laundry and straighten up all the drawers of her clothes. Dishes, by hand, and then off to school to file, sort and organize, not to mention playing with Abby. I think it went well, more tomorrow. Hope it all helps, but I should get a clean house at least :)

Thom's builds

Thom built these displays for a leather shop. The back displays for all the clothing. He came up with all the ideas, including rusty chains to anchor it to the wall and bent/cut rebar to hang the hangers on. It really looks professional, like something you might find a the mall shops. He all built the benches for the shoes and there is a divider wall he built with swinging doors, but I couldn't fit those picture

He even found a way to rust the bolts so they matched every thing. The rebar hangers are strong enough for him to hang from.

Beach Trip

Went to Myrtle Beach for spring break. Abby loved it! Loved the sand and the water.

Ice and school

Missouri gets nothing but ice!! No nice snow, ice, ice, ice!!! And more to come tonight/ tomorrow, well when ever it decides to get here. And those who decide if we have school or not are so mixed up! In the morning when we have to slip and slide to school, we have to be there, but some random afternoon, when its not doing anything they let us out at 1:30!! Crazy. Well atleast I only have 2 more days and then 2 weeks off.
